# SIL Open Font License 1.1: what you can do with these fonts

Use it for anything, including commercial work and logos; share it with its licence; never sell the font file on its own.

## Usage Permissions

### COMMERCIAL — ALLOWED
- **Clause**: Preamble
- **Quote**: "The requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply to any document created using the fonts or their derivatives."
- **Plain-English note**: Whatever you make with the font is yours; the licence covers the font files.

### LOGO — ALLOWED
- **Clause**: Preamble
- **Quote**: "The requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply to any document created using the fonts or their derivatives."
- **Plain-English note**: A logo is a document made with the font; the licence sets no limit on it.

### WEB — CONDITIONS
- **Clause**: Permission & Conditions 2
- **Quote**: "These can be included either as stand-alone text files, human-readable headers or in the appropriate machine-readable metadata fields within text or binary files as long as those fields can be easily viewed by the user."
- **Plain-English note**: Serving the file to browsers is redistribution: the copyright notice and licence travel with it, and the font file's own metadata counts.

### APP — CONDITIONS
- **Clause**: Permission & Conditions 2
- **Quote**: "Original or Modified Versions of the Font Software may be bundled, redistributed and/or sold with any software, provided that each copy contains the above copyright notice and this license."
- **Plain-English note**: Bundle it in free or paid software; ship the copyright notice and licence with it.

### MODIFY — CONDITIONS
- **Clause**: Permission & Conditions 3
- **Quote**: "No Modified Version of the Font Software may use the Reserved Font Name(s) unless explicit written permission is granted by the corresponding Copyright Holder."
- **Plain-English note**: A modified font stays under the OFL and must not use a Reserved Font Name (each font page lists its own).

### REDISTRIBUTE — CONDITIONS
- **Clause**: Permission & Conditions 5
- **Quote**: "The Font Software, modified or unmodified, in part or in whole, must be distributed entirely under this license, and must not be distributed under any other license."
- **Plain-English note**: Share it freely, with its copyright notice and the OFL.

### SELL — NOT_ALLOWED
- **Clause**: Permission & Conditions 1
- **Quote**: "Neither the Font Software nor any of its individual components, in Original or Modified Versions, may be sold by itself."
- **Plain-English note**: Selling it inside software you sell is allowed (condition 2); selling the font alone is not.

### CREDIT — ALLOWED
- **Clause**: Preamble
- **Quote**: "The requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply to any document created using the fonts or their derivatives."
- **Plain-English note**: The notice goes with copies of the font file, not into what you make.
